Jan Čmejla

The Czech pianist Jan Čmejla is the winner of the Category Piano and also the Overall winner of Concertino Praga 2019.

Jan Čmejla was born in 2003 in Prague. He has been playing the piano since the age of six. He is an absolvent of the Secondary School and the Music School of the City of Prague. Since 2018 he has been studying the Prague Conservatory under the guidance of Prof. Eva Boguniová.

Jan has won several music competitions – from recent years we can mention for example Chopin for the Youngest (2015), Novak International Piano Competition (2015), Young Piano of the Prague Conservatory (2015), Peter Toperczer International Piano Competition Košice (2017), Beethoven's Teplice (2018), Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte (2018) and Concertino Praga (2019). He is a laureate of Golden Nut Prize addressed to the most talented children in the Czech Republic and of the Kern Foundation Prize awarded by excellent pianist Olga Kern.

Thanks to his competition successes, he had an opportunity to perform with the Brno Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra or with Václav Hudeček at the Prague Music Festival Holiday of Music.
