Lora Markova

Bulgarian violinist Lora Markova received the 2nd prize in Violin category.

Lora Markova was born in 2003 in Sofia. She has been singing and playing the piano since she was 3. At the age of 5 she started playing the violin. Next year she was admitted to the National School of Music Lyubomir Pipkov in Sofia, in the class of Prof. Blagorodna Taneva.

Lora Markova is a laureate of a number awards from international competitions: First prizes at Young Virtuosos Competition, Sofia 2013, Dobrin Petkov Competition, Plovdiv 2013 and Prof. Nedyalka Simeonova Competition, Haskovo 2014 and 2018; Grand Prix at the String Instruments Competition, Nis 2013 and the Earth and Man Competition, Sofia 2018; 2nd Prize at the Odessa Violin Competition, 2018; two 3rd awards at international competitions in Italy etc.

Lora has participated in Musica Mundi festival in Brussels and appeared in concerts in Frankfurt and New York. She has performed with several symphony orchestras of Bulgaria and Belgium. She has participated in master classes of Zakhar Bron, Dora Schwarzberg, Pavel Vernikov, Leonid Kerbel, etc. As of this year, she is a junior student in the class of Mario Hossen at New Bulgarian University in Sofia. She plays on a violin provided by the Vlado Tilev Foundation.
