Ivaylo Vassilev

We are going to introduce you the Bulgarian pianist Ivaylo Vassilev at the South Bohemian Festival.

Ivaylo Vassilev was born in Sofia in 2007. He was a student of Emilia Kaneva at the Sofia National School of Music from 2014 to 2019. He has studied under Professor Borislava Taneva since 2019. He has received more than 20 prizes from competitions. The most significant include: the Nutcracker, Moscow 2018 (the Golden Nutcracker - winner), De Bach au Jazz, Athens, 2018 (the Grand Prix), Anna Artobolevskaya, Moscow, 2017 (the 1st prize), Enkor, online, 2017 (the Grand Prix), the Münchner Klavierpodium, Munich, 2016 (the winner), the Cesar Franck, Brussels, 2016 (the 2nd prize) and the Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte, Usti-nad-Labem, 2015 (the 2nd prize). He has performed as a soloist with K. Ilievsky, M. Damev, G. Patrikov, N. Petrov, A. Titov, A. Chernushenko and Sascha Goetzel at emblematic venues in Bulgaria and Russia. His first professional CD of piano concertos by Mozart and Shostakovich was released in the autumn of 2019. Ivaylo has an extensive piano repertoire, but he also composes, plays chamber music and improvises. He has completed many masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists and teachers.
