The finale of the Concertino Praga is approaching

27. srpen 2021

The 55th year of the Concertino Praga competition will culminate on 17 and 18 September with the final concerts under the auspices of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival. This year, the international jury has chosen participants in two competition categories, namely solo and chamber ensemble.

A total of 86 competitors registered for the competition (58 in the solo category and 28 in the chamber ensemble category). The four best rated candidates, i.e. four soloists and the four most successful ensembles, were able to move on to the finale in each category. Their recordings were evaluated by two different international juries during the first two elimination rounds of the competition. The most successful will compete for first place in front of an audience and the international juries for the final rounds. The juries will include the violinist Václav Hudeček, the conductor Jakub Hrůša, the pianist Ivo Kahánek, the trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov or the clarinettist Andrew Marriner, for example.

The cooperation between Czech Radio and the Academy of Classical Music during the organisation of the Concertino Praga competition has continued for its second year. Thanks to this partnership, finalists will have the opportunity to perform at concerts within the framework of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival, which is certainly a great motivating factor, but at the same time also an acid test, during which everyone will have to show that they are not only able to play their instruments flawlessly, but that they can also present their art to an audience.

The chamber ensemble finale will take place at the Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia on Friday 17.9., while the soloists will be accompanied by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Dvořák Hall at the Rudolfinum under the baton of the conductor Vahan Mardirossian on 18.9..
